She earned a Master of Science Degree in\nEpidemiology from Harvard School of Public Health and completed her PhD in\nEpidemiology at Athens Medical School. She has actively participated in many \nmulti-centered European research projects, among which the European Prospective\nInvestigation into Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC) study, EPIC-Elderly, EPIC-Elderly-\nNAH, EUROSTROKE, Promotion of Breastfeeding in Europe, EURRECA (EURopean\nmicronutrient RECommendations Aligned), SPAN (Science for Prevention Academic\nNetwork) and CHANCES, as well as, in national research projects in the sector of\npublic health and epidemiology. She teaches Epidemiology- Research Methodology\nand Preventive Medicine to undergraduate medical students of Athens Medical\nSchool and post-graduate students of Athens Medical School and the School of\nNursing of NKUA, of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the National School\nof Public Health.<\/p>\n<p>She served as Deputy Director of the Postgraduate program \u00abEpidemiology \u2013\nResearch Methodology in Biomedical sciences, clinical practice and public health\u00bb,\nrun by the Dept. of Hygiene, Epidemiology and Medical Statistics, at Athens Medical\nSchool and she is a member of the Steering Committee of three Post-graduate\nPrograms at Athens Medical School.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Her research interests are focused on nutritional epidemiology, chronic disease\nepidemiology <\/strong>(with emphasis on cancer, cardiovascular diseases and osteoporosis),\nas well as, public health nutrition issues. She has worked for the development of\nnational dietary guidelines for adults, elderly, infants and children, pregnant and\nlactating women.<\/p>\n<p>She is a core member of the WHO Collaborating Centre for\nNutrition and Health at the Dept. of Hygiene, Epidemiology and Medical Statistics of\nAthens Medical School. Currently, she is a member of the National Committee for\nNutrition Policy.<\/p>\n<p>V.
