This PhD is an exciting opportunity to develop Bayesian computational methods to create personalised surveillance intervals for liver cancer screening. The project will utilise large electronic health records via CPRD, and the CIPHA programme, to identify liver biomarkers, and combine longitudinal observation of biomarkers with liver cancer outcomes, and determine when \u201cat-risk\u201d patients should next be brought for screening. The large volume of data means that we will need scalable algorithms to be able to fit models efficiently. For this, the student will learn about variational Bayes methods and derive suitable approaches for longitudinal and survival models. The models will be tested using both simulation studies and real data analysis.
