The Meta-Analysis Research Group of the Institute of Medical Biometry and Statistics is seeking a PhD student to work on the project “Enabling new types of questions in evidence synthesis” funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG, Emmy Noether programme). The project entails the development of statistical methods to enable generalizing definitions of populations, treatment comparisons and outcomes of interest in evidence synthesis. Within a multidisciplinary and highly motivated environment, the post holder will have the opportunity to gain vast experience of working on theoretical and applied projects and collaborate with leading international researchers.

Your tasks:
- perform original statistical research: development of methods to detect and quantify disagreements between different sources of evidence
- participate in international studies aiming to synthesize data involving multiple alternative treatment options
- present results in national and international scientific meetings and conferences
- publish results in peer-reviewed scientific journals
Your profile:
- postgraduate qualification (MSc or equivalent) in a quantitative discipline such as mathematics, statistics, biostatistics, physics or computer science
- experience in programming in a high-level language e.g. R, Python, C++
- fluency in both spoken and written English
