  1. ENTRY PROCEDURE AND CONDITIONS – NUMBER OF ENTRANTS

The number of students admitted to the MSc program is limited to a maximum of 40 per year. The exact number for each year will be determined according to the infrastructure of the departments, the number of faculty members and the need for qualified graduates. Graduates of Mathematics, Statistics, Informatics, Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry, Biology, Pharmacy and other University departments in Greece or corresponding departments abroad as well as the graduates of corresponding departments of Technological Institutes are accepted.

Candidates can be Graduates of the aforementioned schools as well as students of the same schools, who at the end of the September examination period will have successfully completed their studies and will have presented a relevant certificate by October 15.

Selection criteria are based on the grades in relevant to the MSc undergraduate courses (Probability and Statistical Inference or Biostatistics and Introduction to Epidemiology depending on the graduate degree), degree grade, any theses and/or scientific publications, letters of recommendation, an interview and proof of the English language proficiency.

  1. DURATION

The duration for awarding the MSc degree is 4 academic semesters including the time for preparation of the diploma thesis.

An extension is possible following a reasonable application by the student and approval by the Study Program Committee.

The extension cannot exceed 2 academic semesters.

Thus, the maximum time allowed to complete the MSc is 6 academic semesters.

  1. CONDITIONS FOR OBTAINING THE DEGREE

The MSC starts at the winter semester of each academic year.

Each graduate student is required to successfully complete a number of the offered graduate courses. She/He must also attend the lectures and prepare the course’ exercises.

A postgraduate student who has not completed 75% of the attendance hours (lectures and exercises) of each course cannot participate in the course exams.

In order to obtain the MSC in Biostatistics and Health Data Science, it is necessary to accumulate at least 90 credits (ECTS) from compulsory and/or elective courses and to prepare a dissertation thesis after the 3rd semester of studies (additional 30 credits), on a topic related to the courses of the program.
