We are excited to announce a new biostatistician post with the Biostatistics Research Group (BRG) at Newcastle University. The research associate will join a biostatistics team working with scientists to improve the efficiency of laboratory based research and preclinical studies. This will involve working on a mix of methodological and applied statistics alongside Professor Dawn Teare and Dr Jérémie Nsengimana.
The BRG is currently comprised of 26 statisticians working on a range of applied and methodological projects. This new role will support our expansion into preclinical and laboratory based research. Candidates are strongly encouraged to see further details of the group given at www.newcastle-biostatistics.com. The Biostatistics Research Group is part of the Population Health Sciences Institute. The Institute hosts several groups of methodologists, along with a National Institute for Health Research Design Service, and works closely with the UKCRC Registered Newcastle Clinical Trials Unit. This role will involve collaboration with researchers throughout the Faculty which includes the Biosciences Institute and the Translational and Clinical Research Institute, and also the Research Themes (https://www.ncl.ac.uk/medical-sciences/).

To be appointable, you will be a suitably qualified statistician (with either a PhD, or a postgraduate qualification with a track record of published research and evidence of being able to conduct applied or methodological statistical research) interested in working in laboratory based preclinical research. There will be opportunities to be involved in teaching, the supervision of PhD students and in a broad range of biomedical research.
This is a full time, fixed term post, available for the duration of 3 years. The start date is flexible but ideally would be early 2022.

Salary starting : from £31,406 to £33,309 with progression to £40,927 per annum
