Loukia Meligkotsidou

Loukia Meligkotsidou is Associate Professor of Statistics at the Department of Mathematics of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She obtained her BSc in Statistics from the Department of Statistics of Athens University of Economics and Business, in 2002, and a PhD in Statistics from the Department of Mathematics and Statistics of Lancaster University, UK, in 2005. She teaches undergraduate courses on Linear Models, Bayesian Inference, Multivariate Data Analysis and Applications in Statistical Packages. At postgraduate level, she teaches Bayesian Inference, Time-Series, Multivariate Analysis, Econometrics and Programming. The fields of her scientific expertise are mainly Bayesian Inference and Bayesian Model Choice, and Markov chain Monte Carlo methods. Her research interests include Biostatistics, in particular joint modeling of longitudinal and survival data, mixture models and hidden Markov models, predictive models, simulation methods, Filtering methods and Particle Filters, Computational Statistics, Applied Statistics and Statistical Genetics. She has published papers in leading Statistics and Biostatistics Journals and she has participated as a NKUA researcher, principal investigator or leader of the statistics team in interdisciplinary research projects, funded by the European Union and/or Greek National Funds. She is a member of several international scientific societies and she has participated in numerous international statistics conferences.
