Statistical Trials Methodologist/Senior Trials Methodologist

Salary Range: £38,891 – £52,324 per annum

Full time; Part time (minimum 60% FTE) will be considered.

Length of Contract: Fixed Term for 24 months

Summary of Role

The Clinical Trials and Statistics Unit at The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR-CTSU) is expanding its statistical and methodology team of over 20 statisticians at its Sutton site in Surrey.  ICR-CTSU manages an exciting portfolio of national and international phase II and III cancer clinical trials and an expanding number of early phase I/II cancer trials.  

The post-holder will have a dual role:

  • developing novel methodologies for the design and analysis of clinical trials, and
  • applying efficient methods to both new and ongoing trials. 

They will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team on trials methodology research, as well as the statistical development, oversight and analysis of a number of clinical trials within ICR-CTSU’s portfolio. This includes close collaboration with the Drug Development Unit at ICR and Royal Marsden, and external organisations. Guided by principal statisticians and the ICR-CTSU Methodology Lead, the successful candidate will work across trials spanning all phases, with a particular emphasis on the development and implementation of efficient trial methodology in adaptive trials.

Key Requirements
The successful applicant will be a highly motivated statistician with a strong interest in developing new statistical methods to improve the efficiency of clinical trials. They will have a post-graduate qualification in statistics and have a sound understanding of clinical trials and experience in applying statistical methods to real-world data. Familiarity with Bayesian statistics is highly desirable. Effective oral and written communication skills, along with enthusiasm for collaborating with others from diverse disciplines, are essential.

Appointment will be on a fixed term contract for 2 years.  We currently have a blended approach to home and office working, and flexible working options may be considered.
