Apostolos Burnetas

Apostolos Burnetas is a Professor or Stochastic Operations Research at the Department of Mathematics of the National and Kapodistrian Unversity of Athens.

He received a Diploma in Electrical Engineering from the National Technical Unversity of Athens in 1986, and a Master in Business Administration and a Ph.D. in Operations Research (1992 and 1993, respectively), from the Graduate School of Management of Rutgers University, NJ, USA.

Between 1994 and 2003 he was an Assistant and Associate Professor at the Department of Operations Research of Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH USA. His research interest are in Applied Probability, Statistics and Operations Research, with a focus on models of stochastic optimization, estimation and control under incomplete information, stochastic simulation, dynamic programming and game theory, and development of related mathematical methods for analysis.

His teaching activity includes undergraduate and graduate courses in Probability, Statistics, Operations Research, Stochastic Process, Stochastic Optimization, Simulation, etc. . He has published more than 50 papers in international journals and volumes, with more than 3000 citations and an h-index of 24. He has participated in more than 60 international conferences with presentations. He has organized or participated in the scientific and organizational committee of more than 10 international conferences. He is a member of international and Greek societies in Mathematics, Statistics and Operations Research and a member of the editorial board of 3 scientific journals.
