Biostatistician-Epidemiologist

Philippos Orfanos holds a degree in Statistics from Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB), an MSc in Social Statistics from the University of Southampton, UK and a PhD in Nutritional Epidemiology from Athens Medical School under the supervision of the late Professor Dimitrios Trichopoulos. He serves as a member of the Special Teaching Staff at the Department of Hygiene, Epidemiology and Medical Statistics.
He is a tutor at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in modules of biostatistics and epidemiology-research methodology. His research interests focus on nutritional epidemiology with an emphasis on dietary data collection methods and conducting sampling surveys.
Philippos supervises many postgraduate dissertations and serves as a statistical consultant in several doctoral theses. He has participated in many funded research programs and scientific meetings, and he has the role of the reviewer in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
In December 2023, more than 100 of Philippos’ international scientific publications are recorded in the Pubmed bibliographic database. The SCOPUS database recorded 5879 bibliographic references and a Hirsch index (h-index) of 44. The relevant records from the Google Scholar database were >10,000 with a corresponding h-index of 57.
