Evi Samoli

Evangelia (Evi) Samoli is Professor of Epidemiology and Medical Statistics at the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). She graduated from the Department of Mathematics at NKUA and received her MSc in Social Statistics from the University of Southampton, UK. She received her PhD from the Medical School of NKUA in 2005, while she has been retrained in Epidemiology and Environmental Epidemiology. She teaches Biostatistics and Epidemiology to under- and post-graduate students, as well as in related seminars / workshops. She has organized Greek and international postgraduate seminars on Biostatistics and Environmental Epidemiology, while she was co-chair of the Annual Conference of the International Society of Environmental Epidemiology in 2022 in Athens. Her research interests focus on the health effects of exposure to air pollutants and the effects of climate change, as well as the development of related statistical analysis methods. She has published 193 papers in international peer-reviewed scientific journals with over 13,000 citations (h index 58) and has participated in more than 66 international conferences. She has been a member of special committees at the World Health Organization, the US Health Effects Institute and the European Union related to the effects of air pollution on health. She is a member of Greek and international scientific societies active in Environmental Epidemiology and an Editor in the Environmental Epidemiology journal.
