We would like to inform interested candidates about three fully funded positions (2 PhD and 1 Postdoctoral) in Statistics / Machine Learning at the Oslo Centre for Biostatistics and Epidemiology (OCBE), University of Oslo (UiO), Norway.
🔬 PhD Positions
Two motivated PhD candidates are sought to work at the intersection of machine learning, probabilistic modelling, and genetics:
- PhD Project 1: Development of novel methods for analyzing tensors with complex latent dependencies, combining machine learning models with efficient Bayesian inference (e.g., variational approximation)
- PhD Project 2: Development of generative models for discrete sequence data, combining diffusion models and coalescent theory
🔬 Postdoctoral Position
The 3-year postdoctoral position is part of a project funded by the Research Council of Norway and focuses on:
- Bayesian models for unsupervised learning
- Integration of multiple data sources
- Applications in probabilistic recommender systems
🌍 Environment & Benefits
- Competitive salary (approx. €2,500–€3,000 net/month)
- Free healthcare
- Access to a vibrant research environment through Integreat – Norwegian Centre for Knowledge-driven ML
- Opportunity to work within a leading research group in high-dimensional statistical modelling
📅 Deadlines & Applications
- PhD Position 1: Deadline April 19, 2026
- Postdoctoral Position: Deadline April 19, 2026
