Demetrios Paraskevis was born and raised in Samos, Greece. I studied Physics and Molecular Biology (postgraduate studies) and I have a doctoral degree in Molecular Epidemiology of viral infections. I was awarded a Marie Curie postdoctoral fellowship at the Laboratory of Clinical and Evolutionary Virology, Rega Institute, Katholieke University of Leuven, Belgium. My research interests lie in the fields of epidemiology, molecular epidemiology, virus evolution, molecular diagnostics, applications of molecular epidemiology studies in the design and implementation of public health and therapeutic interventions, as well and viral resistance to antivirals. I am member of twenty international and national scientific societies.
